Care Skills

The purpose of this course is to equip you with the knowledge, skill, and competence to care for clients while maintaining a safe and hygienic environment in a variety of healthcare settings.

​

You will achieve this by examining key topics such as what client care entails, the Activities of Daily Living, the range of specific needs of a client, skills for assisting clients and the correct use of equipment in healthcare settings. Throughout this course you will also gain knowledge on how to assist a client with dressing, grooming, eating, and drinking.

 

Care of The Older Person

The purpose of this course is to equip you with the knowledge, skill, .and competence to care effectively for older people in a variety of healthcare settings while catering for their individual and unique needs.

This course will give you an understanding of the role of a health care worker in relation to caring for older people. This is achieved by exploring key topics such as the concept of the ageing process, good work practices in the provision of individualised holistic care, how to meet the full range of clients’ needs in a variety of care settings and how to enhance the quality of life of the older person.

Palliative Care Support

The purpose of this course is to equip you with the knowledge, skill, and competence of a palliative care approach to enable you to care for a person diagnosed with a life-limiting illness in a dignified, inclusive, and holistic manner while also offering support to their families.

This course will equip you with the skills to work effectively as part of a healthcare team to provide support for a person with a life-limiting illness and their families in a variety of settings. This is attained by exploring key topics, often sensitive topics, such as how to provide holistic care for persons diagnosed with a life-limiting illness and in the last days of a person’s life, how to enhance their quality of life, how to communicate effectively with them and what to expect in their last days. This course also covers how to offer support to family members and significant others of the deceased or dying, and how to recognise and respect the uniqueness of each person’s approach to death.
